The Nonino family have made a name for themselves not only for their distillery, which was founded in 1897 and has since accumulated an impressive number of awards and recognitions - they are also responsible for protecting Friuli's native grapes, which otherwise risked being lost. Indeed, today Nonino is one of grappa's great producers, but it's also one of its great sponsors both in Italy and throughout the world. Today the distillery is in the hands of four driven and capable women: Giannola and the younger Cristina, Antonella and Elisabetta. The selection of spirits they produce features limited edition wine acquavit and honey distillates, all marked by the famous logo representing the Medieval symbol for alcohol. Don't forget about their amaros, liquors and fruit brandies (apricot, raspberry, Williams pear, cherry). All these products have proved versatile and can be used to make cocktails. In 1975, Nonino established the prestigious Nonino Award, given to those who have distinguished themselves for their research and/or study of grapes native to Friuli.
