The "Tre Bicchieri World Tour'", which includes tastings, classes and seminars in 30 world capitals, starts on October 26th in Tokyo, here you can find all the dates. In the meantime, we start by telling you about the best new entries of the year.
The Newly minted Tre Bicchieri wines in the Vini d'Italia 2024 guide
Franciacorta Riserva 2016 1701 (postazione 82)
Power, freshness, balance. The Franciacorta Dosaggio Zero Riserva '16 has ample, enveloping, ripe aromas of hazelnut, pepper and mountain butter; the palate has a change of pace, acidic jolt, rhythm, pulp and plenty of depth of flavour.
Abruzzo Pecorino Sup. La Canaglia 2022 Fontefico (postazione 359)
From Punta Penna with fury, in splendid form in terms of fragrance and articulation. It opens slightly smoky, very mineral in its aromatic profile: it displays a powerful and energetic sip, endowed with saline driving force and a finish reminiscent of Mediterranean herbs.
Benvenuto Orange Zibibbo 2022 Cantine Benvenuto (postazione 418)
When maceration makes total sense. Full coppery colour and refined, pleasant scents of medlar, herbs, flowers and iodised notes; fresh and vibrant in the mouth, with a fine balance between fruit and acidity, and a long orange peel finish. Calabria continues to surprise us.
Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo Tauma 2022 Pettinella (postazione 362)
Nice craftsmanship in the olfactory profile, true and identifiable, reminding us that we are dealing with Montepulciano: graphite, pepper, red cherry, currant, an almost toasted hint and then a dynamic and rhythmic, juicy, fragrant, very drinkable yet nuanced and complex mouthfeel. What more could you want from the Rosé of the Year?
Barolo Villero 2019 Livia Fontana (postazione 36)
Livia's Barolos share a common characteristic: the precision and ripeness of the tannins. The cru Villero expresses the graceful characteristics of the cru and the fine vintage very well. It moves with grace and elegance between notes of violets, nutmeg and small red fruits. On the palate it is a glove of silk.
Magma 2020 Cornelissen (postazione 426)
Etna in essence. The Magma comes from 100-year-old Nerello Mascalese free-range saplings in Contrada Barbabecchi; the 2020 vintage has an intense and fragrant nose of pomegranate, cherry, juniper, moving smoky notes and a fruit of exceptional texture, finesse and persistence. After a break of several years, Frank again submitted his wines to our judgement: the tasting did not exactly go unnoticed.
Cinqueterre Sciacchetrà 2020 Cheo (postazione 78)
Time-stoppingly beautiful. The Schiacchetrà '20 is poignant in its aromatic palette that ranges from candied orange to officinal herbs, cocoa to chestnut honey, dried figs to caramel, and has a dense mouthfeel but vital acid support. A meditation wine of great character that does honour to a rare and romantic type.
