Everything revolves around the pink Pisticci fig, a variety typical of the town near Metaponto, which turns a beautiful antique pink colour as it ripens. Giovanni Ancona, the owner of the farm, has helped to promote the fig and expand its cultivation. Terravecchia makes them into jams, sometimes with dried fruit; concentrates called ficotto; caramelized figs; honeyed; with chili pepper; candied figs, to pair with Basilicata's mouthfilling cheeses. The company also makes biscuits and strawberry and apricot jams.
