In 1891 Giulio Cocchi moved to Asti to open a home distillery/winery, producing his own speciality aromatic wines. Today the selection includes fragrant vermouths, like 'The Americano' (now world famous and a common ingredient in cocktails), Barolo Chinato, the amaro vermouth Dopo Teatro, the aged 'reserve', La Venaria Reale, and the Cocchi Rosa (a mix of Piedmont red wine, herbs and spices like gentian, quinine, citrus peels and rose petals). Then there's their grappas, 100% Dorée di Moscato d'Asti, white grappa (made with the fragrant pomace of Barbera grapes from the Monferrato hills), and for die-hard fans, their Aquaforte brandy. Standouts from their Alta Langa sparkling wine selection include Bianc 'd Bianc, vintage and 'Primosecolo', made with 100% chardonnay. For those who are interested in tasting their products, they have bars in Turin, Savona and Levanto (in Cinque Terre).
