VINEYARD | This splendid Greco is produced in an eleven-row vineyard planted by the Troisi family over seventy years ago in Montefredane, slightly outside the boundaries designated by the Greco di Tufo production specification. Hence the name Limite. The winery is located about 600 metres above sea level, with slopes even above 15% and ferocious temperature variations that accentuate the acidic character of the variety.
PERSON | Antonio Troisi was one of the first Irpinia winemakers to set up his own business and make wine from his grapes, with the Vadiaperti brand, instead of conferring them as many did in the 1980s. Raffaele, his son, inherited the desire, the vineyards and the brand, to which he added his own, Traerte. The production philosophy does not have space for compromises: the wines are a direct expression of the terroir, often difficult and angular in their youth, but of great charm if you have the patience to wait for them a while.
WINE | The opening is timid, quiet, but after a few seconds in the glass it begins to release fragrant aromas of oregano, thyme and more intense coriander outbursts. The mouth is compressed, powerful, salty, driven by an acidic vibration that is incisive and progressive to say the least. The wine relaxes on the palate with explosive energy, between fresh tones of wild fennel and almond, for a finish of great cleanliness and aromatic finesse. It has a bright future ahead of it, it has flavour and structure that allows it to age with particular grace.
