VINEYARD | Eva is a pure cabernet franc that comes from a small vineyard located in the municipality of Bibbona. In 2020, the winery produced around 3,000 bottles. The result of an agriculture that follows the dictates of organic farming, the first vintage was 2016. The plot is located in a privileged area, close to the maquis biome, it fully enjoys the Mediterranean climate and boasts fresh soils where the producer works with careful and parsimonious management of the vineyard.
PERSON | Tuscany meets France in the story of this wine conceived by Niccolò Marzichi Lenzi - son of Ilaria Antinori, sister of Ludovico and Piero - his wife Joy, twin sister of the great actress Eva Green. And it was the latter who chose the cabernet franc, her favourite variety, to be delivered by the bottle. The wine bears her name and is produced by the Le Crocine winery on the Lamentano hill, in Bolgheri towards Castagneto Carducci. In addition to the pure cabernet, the estate produces Le Crocine (also mostly cabernet franc), Bolgheri 57022 (the name derives from the Bolgheri cap) and Grenache produced only in a few vintages.
WINE | After careful selection, the destemmed grapes are placed in small steel tanks, followed by a short cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. In the best of Bordeaux tradition, the wine is aged in French oak barriques for about a year and then bottled. Deep and sanguine, it is accompanied by a precious baggage of dark fruity, wild and balsamic tones. Lots of undergrowth and a delicate spiciness add to the nose. Fleshy, it enters with an important material on the palate. Very young, it has a long road ahead. Powerful and structured, of great complexity and persistence on the palate.
