The 2024/2025 olive-growing season has introduced a new player to the Lombard extra virgin olive oil scene. Ca' del Bosco, one of the most influential wineries at both the regional and national levels, has begun producing this precious green gold. The new label, Olio della Corte, is now ready to accompany the nectar of Bacchus in the product catalog of the Erbusco-based company.
How Ca' del Bosco extra virgin olive oil is made
This extra virgin olive oil boasts both organic certification and the DOP Laghi Lombardi designation. It is obtained from a blend of varieties such as Casaliva, Leccino, Frantoio, and Pendolino. The agricultural estate of Ca’ del Bosco, which includes more than 260 hectares of vineyards, also hosts 1,208 olive trees with an average age of over 25 years. These trees are spread across six different areas of Franciacorta, at altitudes ranging from 200 to 550 meters.
The origins of the olive grove
Traditionally, Ca’ del Bosco has cultivated vineyards on terraced land, stabilizing the soil by planting olive trees on sloped embankments. In recent years, with the acquisition of new hillside vineyards, the estate's olive grove has expanded significantly, primarily featuring Casaliva, Leccino, Frantoio, and Pendolino varieties. This naturally led to the continuation of the local olive oil tradition, launching extra virgin production with the support of a newly built in-house mill, entirely dedicated to processing the estate's own olives.
