It all started in 1857, when two Merano businessmen founded the brewery in Maso Unterkofl, in Foresta, known as Forst in German. The area has excellent water from mountain springs and natural ice to use in summer. In 1863, Josef Fuchs, founder of Fuchs, now in its fourth generation, bought the property and started important technical improvements, introducing cooling compressors, and thus allowing production to continue whatever the season. Always at the forefront in the use of modern technology, the new heating room inaugurated recently ensures safety, quality and environmental respect, thanks to a modern recovery system of energy that is used for subsequent heating. Still owned by the same family, Forst today produces a line of excellent beers, a true expression of tradition and the experience of its brewmasters.
