Back in the early 20th century, when prohibition was in full swing, Giuseppe Joseph' Gasco left his hometown of Gallipoli to work for his uncle's transport business in the USA and produce/distribute alcoholic beverages. But Joseph became famous as the rooster' (still the business's logo) by making high-quality drinks, in contrast to the generally low-quality offerings that circulated on the black market, and continued after prohibition was overturned in 1933. It's a lovely story that continues today with a wide range of excellent soft drinks.
