Martini & Rossi

Description

Four traders set up the Distilleria Nazionale di Spirito di Vino all'uso di Francia in 1847, in Turin. In 1879 the company name became Martini & Rossi, owned by Alessandro Martini (one of the founders) and Luigi Rossi, a liqueur producer from Turin. The company met with sweeping success in the new century: branches were created all over the world and in the 1950s and 1960s multiple projects were linked to the company image (Terrazze Martini appeared in many capitals), while in Pessione, the current headquarters, the Museo Martini of the history of winemaking opened in 1961. Vermouth is the keystone of production but the range includes spumante (especially Asti Martini), fernet, bitters (since the 1870s) and quinine cordial. In 1993 the company joined the Bacardi Group. Today the five Martinis, sparkling wines and liqueurs made under this iconic Made-in-Italy trademark are sold in 120 countries.
