The Sarotto family donates €6,000 to the Piedmont Foundation for Cancer Research through the charity project “Ai Fondatori” with the Barolo Riserva 2016

In Neviglie, in the province of Cuneo, the cheque was officially handed over. The amount, derived from the sale of Barolo Riserva 2016 aged in the Grande Botte (Large Barrel) certified by the Guinness World Records and created by G&P Garbellotto, will support the oncology research institute in Candiolo. The project, inaugurated in 2022, aims to allocate a portion of the proceeds to significant charitable causes. On 2 July 2022, the Sarotto family celebrated the opening of the new sections of the winery, earning the Guinness World Record recognition for the largest oak barrel in the world, with a capacity of 47,800 litres, a height of 5.3 metres, and a width of 3.7 metres. The “Ai Fondatori” project, launched on this occasion, aimed to support the community through the sale of Barolo produced in the large barrel.

The “Ai Fondatori” Project

“Life in the countryside teaches two fundamental lessons,” Roberto Sarotto stated in La Stampa. “The unpredictability of nature humbles us, while the necessity of collaboration teaches us to set aside selfishness.” These principles inspired the Sarotto family to launch the “Ai Fondatori” project, dedicated to supporting charitable initiatives and emphasizing the Sarotto family's commitment to social causes: “Two years ago, we promised to dedicate part of our success to helping others. On Saturday, we honoured this project with a donation of €6,000 to the Piedmont Foundation for Cancer Research in Candiolo,” continued Sarotto. The cheque was handed directly to Gianmarco Sala, director of the Piedmont Foundation.

During the event, the recipient of the next donation was also announced: the Federation for Rare Childhood Diseases. This organisation provides assistance and care to people affected by rare diseases and their families, with a particular focus on the biomedical, psychological, and social aspects related to childhood and adolescence. “We want our contribution to make a difference, and we hope the future will be brighter and full of hope,” concluded Sarotto.
