Abruzzo wines scoop up awards. The region wins 37 medals at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles

Twenty-one Abruzzo wineries were honored on January 20 during the event day in L'Aquila to celebrate a prestigious result obtained at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2023. A total of 37 medals, along with the competition certificate, were handed out to the companies at the Villa Giulia complex. "The oenological excellences of the territory, certified by the most important international bodies, have further elevated the prestige of our best productions," said Emanuele Imprudente, Vice President of the Abruzzo Region with responsibility for Agriculture, during the award ceremony.

The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles

An itinerant competition that, for 30 years, has awarded recognitions to the best labels worldwide, the competition involves four separate sessions "to examine every type of wine in an even more professional manner." In the 2023 edition, 10,000 wines from 40 countries were tasted and evaluated by a panel of experts. 340 judges representing 54 nations were selected for their expertise and prestige in their home countries. The judges assessed the products in battery and awarded silver, gold, and grand gold medals.

The event, which hosted a conference on the damages caused by downy mildew, was born from a collaboration between the Abruzzo Region - Department of Agriculture, Chambers of Commerce Gran Sasso and Chieti Pescara, and the Vinci Colecchi Hotel Institute. A total of 20 gold medals and 17 silver medals were distributed to 21 companies. Carlo Dugo, Italian ambassador for the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, described the territory of the Abruzzo region as "unique on the world stage, capable of uniting sea and mountain in a single landscape."
