From 30 August, the event dedicated to winelovers will take place in Sibari, within the Regional Archaeological Park. This will be the first stop of the new travelling format. Gambero Rosso will also be present for the grand tasting of Italy's best wines

Vinitaly and the City is making its debut on the road, choosing a region in southern Italy, Calabria. From Friday, 30 August to Sunday, 1 September (from 6:30 PM to midnight), the off-site version of Verona's international wine fair will arrive in Sibari. The travelling format of the event is dedicated to winelovers and is part of an experimental journey. The goal is to spread wine culture and the knowledge and promotion of fine Italian wines by showcasing various territories.

In Sibari, the grand tasting by Gambero Rosso

The initiative, scheduled at the Archaeological Park of Sibari, is the result of an agreement between the Calabria Region and Veronafiere Spa, in collaboration with the Archaeological Parks of Crotone and Sibari. The event will be organised by Arsac. Some events will be hosted at the National Archaeological Museum of Sibaritide, linking wine, territory, and history. Gambero Rosso will also be present, bringing a rich tasting programme to Sibari after participating in the off-site event in Verona. The excellence of Italian wine will be represented by various award-winning and reviewed wineries from the 37th edition of the Vini d’Italia 2024 guide. The tasting at the tasting stands will be an opportunity to take a nice tour through the vineyards of Italy, featuring both native and international varieties from Trentino to Sardinia.

An opportunity for the promotion of Calabria’s tourism

"Vinitaly and the City Calabria," explained Veronafiere’s General Manager, Adolfo Rebughini, "represents a sign of the inclusive planning that has always characterised the work of Verona’s Fair, but also of the event’s ability to respond to the growing need for valid tools for territorial marketing." In the coming days, logistical details and programmes of the various events scheduled for the weekend will be announced. The President of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, expressed satisfaction: "A great opportunity to enhance and make known our wine excellences, culture, and traditions to the country and the world. A valuable opportunity also in terms of promoting the region's tourism." For the Calabria Region’s Agriculture Councillor, Gianluca Gallo, the fact that Calabria is the first stop of the travelling Vinitaly and the City testifies to "the centrality that the region has acquired in the wine sector, thanks to the excellence of its wines and the skill of its winemakers."
