If you're looking for a wine with great value for money, this is the best in the Aosta Valley (and it's worth it)

In Berebene 2025, we awarded the Regional Value-for-Money Prize for this small Alpine region to a Petite Arvine of remarkable charm. Here's what it is

Heading out from Aosta toward Mont Blanc, one of the first towns you encounter is Aymavilles. The landscape, like in so many villages of this region, is breathtaking: majestic mountains towering over sandy hills that contribute to the uniqueness of the wines. It is within this setting that Les Crêtes was founded, a winery representing the history of Aosta Valley viticulture.

What Costantino Charrère achieved in the 1990s seemed impossible at the time but has since become an inspiration for many producers in the region. Now enjoying his later years, the winery is run by his daughters, Elena and Eleonora, along with son-in-law Giulio Corti. Exuberant and always in search of innovation, Giulio continues to promote the winery’s name worldwide. While achieving great results with international grape varieties, the winery maintains a strong focus on local varieties. A modern enterprise, Les Crêtes is constantly seeking new ways to welcome visitors and wine enthusiasts.

VdA Petite Arvine 2023 - Les Crêtes

The best value-for-money wine in the Aosta Valley according to Berebene 2025

Among the regional wines we tasted, the 2023 Petite Arvine stood out for its exceptional value for money. Made and aged exclusively in stainless steel, it boasts refined fragrances of white fruits and flowers. On the palate, it reveals finesse and appeal, supported by a balanced flavour profile. Pair it with raw fish appetisers or fresh goat cheeses.
In the Berebene 2025 guide by Gambero Rosso, it was awarded as the best value-for-money wine of the Aosta Valley.
