It’s no longer surprising—thankfully—to find wineries run entirely by women. Such is the case with Maso Poli, a Trentino-based winery led by Romina, Martina, and Valentina Togn, who are continuing the winemaking strategies of their father Luigi, a historic figure in the regional wine industry who passed away a few years ago. The winery is housed in a 1700s farmhouse, fully restored in the early 2000s, located on a hill above Lavis. It is perfectly integrated into the rhythmic wine-growing landscape suspended between the porphyritic rocks of the Cembra Valley above, the Adige Valley below, and with the Paganella and the Brenta Dolomites as a breathtaking backdrop.
This estate is as aesthetically stunning as it is technologically advanced. Adding to the charm of the location is a wooden statue titled Terra Cielo (“Earth Sky”) by Vicenza-based artist Marco Martalar, inaugurated two years ago. The estate currently owns thirteen hectares of vineyards, mostly surrounding the winery. Only a few grape varieties are chosen, allowing for precise, meticulous winemaking. The range is defined by its reliability and consistent quality.
Trentino Riesling '23 - Maso Poli
The best value-for-money wine in Trentino, according to the Berebene 2025 Guide
Taking time, in an ancient land shaped by the toil of age-old winegrowers, to challenge modernity with wines that aim to recover the past while opening up to the future—this is the philosophy that defines the Maso Poli winery of the Togn sisters.
This year, we tasted a truly impressive Trentino Riesling '23 - Maso Poli. It ferments and ages in steel, with a slender profile, fruity and slightly iodine-like aromas. On the palate, it has a dry taste, a decent acidic backbone, and good savouriness, particularly noticeable in the finish.
In the Berebene 2025 Guide by Gambero Rosso, we awarded it the title of Best Value-for-Money Wine in Trentino. It also received the Due Bicchieri Rossi (Two Red Glasses) recognition in the Vini d’Italia 2025 guide by Gambero Rosso, having reached the finals.
