The Tuscan brand brings the 34-hectare vineyard, previously owned by the Winiarski family, back under Stag's Leap. The goal is 100% estate-grown grapes

Another major acquisition by Marchesi Antinori in Napa Valley. The Tuscan brand completes the circle with Stag's Leap, the prestigious winery fully acquired in 2023, and manages to incorporate the iconic Arcadia Vineyard, founded by Warren Winiarski, former owner of Stag's Leap, who recently passed away at the age of 95. Arcadia Vineyard spans a total of 54.6 hectares, with 34 hectares of vineyards consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon (23.9 hectares), Chardonnay (8.9 hectares), and Merlot (1.2 hectares). The property is located at the foot of Mount George, on the eastern side of Napa Valley, within the Coombsville AVA.

Goal: 100% estate-grown grapes

"The acquisition," stated Renzo Cotarella, CEO of Marchesi Antinori, "brings the vineyard back to its original home, allowing us to move closer to our goal of producing the wines of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars with 100% estate-grown grapes, as we do for all Antinori wines." After the sale of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in 2007 (the year the Antinori family became involved in the estate’s management before the full acquisition in 2023), Arcadia Vineyard remained in the hands of the Winiarski family and continued to supply grapes to the winery without interruption.

Winiarski’s "condition" for Antinori

Chairman Piero Antinori recalled his friend Warren Winiarski: "He was always deeply attached to this vineyard. When he decided to sell Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in 2007, he set one condition: that he could retain ownership of Arcadia Vineyard (acquired in 1996 from Mike Grgich’s partner). Like us, Warren," Antinori noted, "recognized Coombsville AVA as one of the most promising areas in Napa Valley. That is why we are particularly happy today to have managed to reunite this vineyard with the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars estate." The portion of natural habitat on the property was donated by Winiarski to the non-profit organization “Land Trust of Napa County,” which works to preserve Napa Valley’s natural characteristics by protecting the land.

In an official statement, which did not disclose the financial details of the deal, Juan Munoz-Oca, COO (Chief Operating Officer) of the Antinori family’s U.S. company and director of Stag’s Leap, spoke of a "special place" and the "unique terroir" of Coombsville AVA.
