Guerrieri Rizzardi is a historic name in the wine production sector, not only in Veneto but throughout Italy. This is confirmed by the winery's membership in an exclusive global club, Les Henokiens, an association that brings together family-run businesses with at least two centuries of history. Among the only 14 Italian names on this list, Guerrieri Rizzardi is the only one dedicated to wine production.
The Veronese wine-producing landscape, where the family has always been active, is home to several major wineries operating across all the main appellations of the province. The same applies to Guerrieri Rizzardi: brothers Agostino and Giuseppe, currently at the helm of the estate, can rely on a vastvineyardarea —around one hundred hectares—spanning these regions, allowing them to oversee all production phases, from vineyard to bottle, without the need for external collaborations.
This extensive viticultural platform begins in the Bardolino Classico area, near the shores of Lake Garda, then extends to the classic Valpolicella zone, around Villa Pojega in Negrar, the hillsof Soave, with vineyards next to the town’s castle and in the Costeggiola area, and finally into Valdadige, close to the river’s course.
The production, defined by great stylistic precision, prioritises elegance and tension rather than sheer concentration, aiming to highlight the finesse that the region’s historic grape varieties can offer.
Bardolino Delara '22 - Guerrieri Rizzardi
The best value-for-money wine in Veneto according to the Berebene 2025 Guide
The historic Veronese winery Guerrieri Rizzardi presents the intriguing Bardolino Delara '22, made from vineyards located in the Montebaldo subzone, in the northernmost part of the appellation. It is a blend composed almost entirely of Corvina, with a small addition—around 5%—of Rondinella. Vinified and aged exclusively in stainless steel, its bouquet impresses with a strong fruity character, revealing intense notes of forest floor and spices. On the palate, it is both solid and agile, displaying remarkable savouriness. While pairing it with cured meats might seem obvious, try serving it with oily fish or a flavourful fish soup—it will surprise you.
In the Berebene 2025 Guide by Gambero Rosso, we awarded it the prize for Best Regional Value-for-Money Wine, and it also earned Two Red Glasses in the Vini d’Italia 2025 Guide by Gambero Rosso, having reached the finals during the tastings.
