Among Sicily’s many wineries, one stands apart from all the others. It’s not about the grapes, the land, or the production techniques. It is an important story of social redemption and territorial revival

Centopassi, the winery whose name honours the heroic legacy of Peppino Impastato, is part of Libera Terra, a cooperative that cultivates land confiscated from the Mafia in the Alto Belice Corleonese. These fields, once abandoned, have been reclaimed for agriculture, creating a powerful opportunity for social redemption and the promotion of the land and its indigenous grape varieties.
Spread across the provinces of Palermo and Agrigento, this untouched yet rugged region is perfectly suited to viticulture and high-quality production, thanks to favourable temperature fluctuations, altitude, winds, and soil composition. The vineyards, all cultivated under organic farming principles, stretch across 12 different districts, each with unique terroirs: limestone soils for Grillo, sandstone and clay for Catarratto, and the solid bedrock that nurtures Nocera and Nerello Mascalese. The winery strives to bring this pedoclimatic diversity directly into the glass, ensuring that each wine reflects its distinct origins.

Sicilia Bianco Giato '23 - Centopassi

Sicily’s best value-for-money wine according to the Berebene 2025 Guide

The Sicilia Bianco Giato '23 is a blend of Grillo (60%) and Catarratto, vinified and aged exclusively in stainless steel to preserve the freshness and vibrant character of these two indigenous grape varieties.
Its bouquet opens with intense fruity aromas of peach and ripe pear, which gradually intertwine with floral notes of jasmine, wisteria, and yellow daisies. On the palate, it is fresh and savoury, pleasantly juicy, with a lingering finish where the fruity notes return.

We awarded it the Best Value-for-Money Wine in Sicily in the Berebene 2025 guide by Gambero Rosso. It also earned the prestigious Two Red Glasses in the Vini d’Italia 2025 guide, having made it to the final round of tastings.
