Trento wines continue to play a starring role in the Metodo Classico category on both a regional and national level. Of the 13 wines from Trentino awarded "Tre Bicchieri" for 2025, eight are Trentodoc. Here they are

Trentodoc wines remain at the top in the region, showcasing the dynamism of Trentino through Metodo Classico wines, though there are also award-winning still red and white wines in the mix.

Here we focus on Trento’s sparkling wines, which have shown notable progress each year thanks to a diverse mosaic of cooperatives, small winemakers, and renowned private wineries that all contribute to showcasing the area's identity. We find great consistency even among simpler wines, beyond those awarded the highest recognition, and with the added complexity of vintage and Rosé versions, Trentodoc sparkling wines have reached a significant place at the peak of national production.

Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir, Trentodoc wines stand out for their maturity and complexity achieved through precise dosage and extended time on the lees, revealing the full potential of these varieties. The award-winning wines this year feature both familiar labels and new ones, including an impressive quality among the Rosé versions. Eight of these wines reached the final round, with one climbing to the top spot again this year: the Trento Extra Brut Rosé Inkino 2020 by Mas dei Chini.

Trentodoc: a new entry and a rare labe

Etyssa, one of two Trentino wineries achieving "Tre Bicchieri" for the first time this year, reached this top result with a Trentodoc: the Trento Extra Brut Cuvée N. 8 2019. This is an excellent Chardonnay-based cuvée produced by a small start-up founded by four young winemakers. A Trentodoc wine also appears in the Carta dei Vini Rari (Rare Wine List), a completely new section in Gambero Rosso's Vini d'Italia 2025 guide. This wine is the Trento Brut Madame Martis Riserva ’13 by Maso Martis.

Top Trentodoc wines awarded Tre Bicchieri

Here are the Trentodoc wines that earned the highest recognition in the Gambero Rosso Vini d'Italia 2025 guide.

Trento Brut Altemasi Graal Ris. 2017 - Cavit. This remains an outstanding mountain sparkling wine, offering complexity, evolution, freshness, and sapidity for a rich and layered sip. Cavit, a historic consortium of 11 Trentino wine cooperatives, has evolved over the years by prioritising quality and promoting specialised viticulture. Over 5,000 producers manage approximately 6,300 hectares, representing 60% of Trentino's vineyard area. Their goal is to maximise the quality of the raw material in the most suitable areas, with special attention given to the Altemasi line dedicated to Trento Doc.

Trento Brut Nature 2018 - Moser. A very elegant wine with a fine, vertical profile that envelops the palate with perfectly balanced carbonation, acidity, and flavour. Cousins Carlo and Matteo Moser have grown the winery’s quality and character, especially in Trentodoc sparkling wines. While experimenting, they remain anchored to the classic style of mountain sparkling wines. They have also recently launched a white Pinot Noir aged 72 months on the lees from Maso Warth’s oldest vineyards, which are 80 years old.

Trento Brut Rotari Flavio Ris. 2016 - Rotari. Known as the "usual" Flavio, this Riserva '16 is a complex wine that balances advanced notes from years on the lees with the vitality of youthful sparkling wines. Rotari, part of the Mezzacorona group, is dedicated to sparkling wines under the Trento denomination. Over the years, they have invested in an architecturally stunning winery with a distinctive "wave-shaped" roof, echoing the Trentino pergolas. The group's open philosophy yields versatile wines that appeal to a diverse audience.

Trento Dosaggio Zero 2020 - Revì. Surprising for its depth and aromatic complexity, this wine features notes of ginger, candied citrus, and mountain herbs with delicate carbonation for a light, airy feel. The winery, founded in 1982 in Aldeno by Paolo Malfer, is now run by the second generation, Stefano and Giacomo, who continue to uphold their father’s philosophy, blending craftsmanship with innovation. The wines embrace the alpine character of the region, focusing on freshness and finesse.

Trento Dosaggio Zero Oro Rosso Cembra 2018 - La Vis Cembra.
This Dosaggio Zero offers complexity, depth, and finesse, with notes of anise and white peach and a creamy, rhythmic palate. La Vis, a cooperative winery, was the first to establish an important and independent role in Trentino's wine landscape. With 700 members working as many hectares of vineyards, it also oversees Cembra Cantina di Montagna, another cooperative founded in 1952. La Vis has embarked on a new path in recent years, focusing on unique vineyard varieties with "heroic" vineyards perched at elevations between 450 and 900 meters, supported by 700 kilometers of dry stone walls that stretch along the valley like a web.

Trento Extra Brut Cuvée N. 8 2019 - Etyssa. Achieving the highest recognition, this wine offers a broad, layered nose with a hint of evolution yet retains freshness. The bubbles are creamy, acidity enhances freshness, and minerality drives a long finish—a truly great wine. Etyssa was born from the shared dream of four friends who became partners in a high-quality sparkling wine project that expresses the strength and character of mountain wines. Their dream materialised in 2012 with the launch of Etyssa: a single label, strictly vintage, with a progressive number to capture the characteristics of each year.

Trento Extra Brut Riserva Lunelli 2016 - Ferrari. This Riserva offers incredible complexity and balanced structure and finesse. A milestone in Ferrari's history was 1906, when its sparkling wines won a gold medal at the Milan International Exhibition, the first of many awards to follow. Ferrari is guided by a close-knit family team that has shown an increasing sensitivity to and respect for the Trentino territory each year, while also striving to conserve and promote Trentino’s cultural heritage. This impressive lineup is sure to leave an impact and convince at every level.

Trento Extra Brut Rosé Inkino 2020 - Mas dei Chini. The Inkino Rosé is undoubtedly the top wine from Mas dei Chini. This Extra Brut embodies the characteristics of mountain sparkling wines, with a broad and complex body balanced by vibrant acidity and lively minerality. The finish has notes of pepper and berries that echo the wine’s aromas. The historic 19th-century estate that houses the agriturismo reflects the Chini family’s deep-rooted connection to the area and a winemaking history that dates back to 1906. The wine range focuses on high-quality sparkling Trento DOCs while honouring tradition with grapes like Gewürztraminer and Teroldego.
