Tre Bicchieri 2020 Friuli Venezia Giulia. Unforgettable 2018
In Friuli Venezia Giulia the climatic conditions of 2018 turned out to be virtually perfect for the growth and life of the vine and the maturation of the grapes. The logical consequence was a harvest beyond all expectations, certainly the best since the beginning of the century. Quantity and quality don't normally go hand in hand, but when everything works in its favour, then the abundance of production does not in any way affect the level of quality. The 2018 wines express a vigour and a very important complexity for their young age. Additionally, this year there are 26 wines that have passed the threshold of excellence and have been awarded the Tre Bicchieri: of these, 12 are from the latest vintage.
Tre Bicchieri 2020 Friuli Venezia Giulia. Vines and important traditions
The most representative wine of the region, the Friulano, has received the coveted award thanks to three historic companies of the Collio Goriziano: Schiopetto, Toros and Livon, which with its Manditocai honours the loss of the name of the vine. Rosazzo Bianco Terre Alte '17 by Livio Felluga and the Vintage Tunina '17 by Jermann confirm their role as ambassadors in the world of the potential of regional blends in addition to the renowned Collio Bianco Fosarin '17 by Ronco dei Tassi, Collio Bianco Riserva '17 by Angoris, BiancoSesto '17 La Tunella, and Desiderium '17 of the I Ferretti line of Tenuta Luisa.
Also from the Collio are the Malvasia '18 by Villa Russiz, the Chardonnay '18 by Ronco Blanchis, the Sauvignon '18 by Tiare (winning the Tre Bicchieri for the sixth consecutive time) and three versions of Pinot Bianco '18 by Doro Princic, Russiz Superiore and Castello di Spessa with the Santarosa. We would like to point out that this year too, the latter grape variety has won the highest number of awards, in addition to the aforementioned are: Pinot Bianco Myò ’18 by Zorzettig, Pinot Bianco ‘18 of Vigneti Le Monde e il Pinot Bianco ’17 by Masut da Rive. Torre Rosazza confirms its excellence with Pinot Grigio '18, Volpe Pasini with the Sauvignon Zuc di Volpe '18 and Vie di Romans with Sauvignon Pière '17. The intriguing macerated white wines that characterize the Oslavia area and the Trieste Karst are represented by the Ribolla Gialla Riserva ’16 by Primosic, the Malvasia ’15 by Podversic and the Ograde by Skerk. Sparkling wine is on laurels too, thanks to Collavini with its Ribolla Gialla '15 in the new Brut Nature version. The best sweet ending is... sipping the Tal Lùc cuvée .1.2 by Lis Neris.
