As we prepare to archive the 37th edition of Italian Wines, we notice an undercurrent of concern among Le Marche’s producers regarding the 2023 harvest. This concern is due to factors that can be attributed to natural risks, such as vine diseases, and an unpredictable climate. Additionally, there's a palpable anxiety about the stability of both domestic and international markets, given restrictive economic policies. However, Le Marche is predominantly composed of medium to small, often family-run, estates, exhibiting a good degree of adaptability.
Marche's Tre Bicchieri 2024. News, confirmations and returns
Although the region has gained authority over the years, it must further cement its allure to the general public. The collective effort is evident in the increasingly blurred line between top-tier wines. The task of the subsequent pages is to present a concise summary of current trends, while suggesting the standout names from various appellations. No producer should consider themselves beyond reproach, nor should they feel excluded. Everyone should strive to deliver their best, year after year, harvest after harvest. This year's Tre Bicchieri list includes three newcomers, many established names, and some remarkable comebacks. Among these last is Fattoria Le Terrazze, which clinches the top award in Conero, offering a clear indication of how to interpret the terroir through a modern lens. The debutante Madonnabruna shines a spotlight on Fermo, somewhat sidelined in recent years but by no means less lively. Piceno is also on the rise, with its iconic red wine championed by Numa, a new generation winery showcasing contemporary expressions. Matelica and Castelli di Jesi stand out brilliantly in both quality and innnovation. In addition to discovering new growers, who are likely to be prominent in the coming years, the Tre Bicchieri club warmly welcomes, for the first time, Col di Corte and warmly reembraces Fattoria San Lorenzo, Tenuta dell'Ugolino, and Roberto Venturi.
