Tre Bicchieri 2024. The best Carmignano wines
As we've already highlighted, Tuscany reaffirms itself this year as the most awarded region in the Guide, boasting a staggering 89 Three Glasses awards. This recognition is widely justified due to the vastness of its territory and designations, the variety of styles, and the diversity of terroirs. Here, we focus on the DOCG Carmignano (achieved in 1990), where the eponymous red wine takes the spotlight. The production area of Carmignano DOCG covers 135 hectares located on the eastern side of the Montalbano mountain range, in the hilly area spanning the municipalities of Carmignano and Poggio a Caiano. Carmignano wine is predominantly made from Sangiovese combined with Canaiolo Nero (max. 20%), Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon (10-20%), and an optional addition of white grapes (max. 10%) such as Trebbiano Toscano, Canaiolo Bianco, and Malvasia del Chianti.
Here are the three Carmignano wines that we awarded in the Gambero Rosso Guide to Italian Wines 2024. Tenuta Ceri was also awarded as an Emerging Winery
