It is the symbol of Romagna, the famous flat bread that is baked, according to rigid tradition, on the terracotta "testo" and that boasts a rich, crumbly dough thanks to the use of lard. Not everyone knows, however, that there is not just one version of piadina, on the contrary: in the various towns in Romagna, this product differs, especially in thickness and size. In Rimini, the piadina is very thin, very large in size and flexible, ideal for rolling. In town there are several obligatory stops for tasting it: here are the must-visit locations.
The best piadine in Rimini
Bar Ilde
What is known as "Il Baretto della Buona Piadina" has its roots in 1958 with a small wooden kiosk where passers-by and workers would come to snack on Signora Maria's piadina. The Urbinati family, starting with Ilde, has tapped well into the tourist development of the area, expanding both the space and the piadina offerings, which today include 3 types of dough, 100 different fillings, cassoni, a few cold dishes, fried foods, salads and side dishes.

Casina del Bosco
The piadina here is in full respect of the Romagna tradition: open only from spring to early autumn, the Casina nel Bosco is a guarantee for a dough (classic or made with faro flour) that is correctly made, for the use of the best ingredients the area offers, all of which are traceable, and finally - and this is no small thing - for a welcome that reflects the most authentic local character. Between piadina, cassoni and salads everything here speaks of taste and authenticity, to be enjoyed in a location set in one of the most iconic places in Rimini.

Dalla Lella
Of Lella's three branches, the one in Via Covignano caters to the supporters of the more classic piadina romagnola. The dough is of different types: with extra virgin olive oil instead of lard, with farro flour, ancient grain flour, mixed grains flour, aromatic herbs or wholemeal flour, and each piadina is then stuffed with local cured meats and cheeses.

Nud e Crud
For connoisseurs of the typical Rimini piadina, this local eatery is a safe landing place. Made with local flours, the piadinas are stuffed with seasonal products from the area's organic farms, totally 0 km in their entirety (with a few valid exceptions). Whether in the traditional version or with extra virgin olive oil, or even with kamut and farro flours, the piadinas are present with traditional combinations or in more whimsical solutions.

L'Oasi della Piada
An authentic corner complete with a small play area for children and the perfect place for those seeking to rediscover the authentic flavours of Romagna tradition. Fabio and Simone are passionately dedicated to running this cosy kiosk, where they offer well-made piadaina. A few examples? The crudo, stracchino and rocket; or the version with sausage and onions, and the one with speck, gorgonzola and walnuts.

Salumarina
An original offer that begins in a seafood restaurant on the beach and then meets the typical piadina of Romagna in an exclusive combination: seafood salumi, here produced in-house and in various versions. Tuna sausage is joined by salmon and swordfish mortadella, swordfish ham, salmon speck, and blue marlin porchetta, all stuffed in piadina with varying combinations according to taste.
