World's 50 Best from Moscow to London
It is no wonder that the World's 50 Best Restaurants 2022 awards ceremony is moving from Moscow to London. After the Russian invasion in Ukraine, the organization announced the irrevocable decision via Twitter, switching comments off on the post: "At this current time, we are planning on holding the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 in London this July". UEFA has announced as well that it will move the Champions League final on May to the Stade de France in Paris from the Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg. The world of events, including culinary ones, are therefore taking a clear position.
World’s 50 Best 2022
The decision comes after the hard work put in by Russian restaurants in recent years to stand out (in the 50 Best of 2021 Russia boasted two Moscow-based restaurants ‘White Rabbit’ and ‘Twins Garden’). The stance of the high-profile ranking arrived just the day after the first Russian bombings. There are no further details about it, but the current socio-political situation is dramatic, and the events sector is moving on an extremely delicate balance, especially considering the damages in the last two years due to the many pandemic-related restrictions and closures. What is certain is that the 2022 edition will hit the British capital on a date yet to be determined, for the second time in person after last year's success in Antwerp.
