A Cologne dining icon since 1973. Roberto Carturan’s cuisine is characterised by clean cut flavours, and he masterfully continues his father Alfredo’s heritage. Only a handful of tables, elegantly decorated and only slightly over lit. During our last visit we enjoyed a tasty branzino carpaccio enriched with good extra virgin olive oil; pappardelle with duck ragout – we would have liked them a little more savoury – and the house specialty, the perfectly roasted lammrucken Alfredo, i.e. lamb with rosemary and garlic. The traditional cuisine and classic accents are not terribly passionate but constantly reliable over time. The wine list is well stocked with relatively generous mark-ups. The service is top notch.
