One of the best (and few) Emilian restaurants outside the region is situated in the Vicenza city center (200 kilometers from Modena, as the sign says), in a pleasant setting with a few tables outside. The Roncaccioli family don't skimp on quality: their products hail from selected suppliers, the pasta prepared daily at home, and the region's best wines light up their cellar. The menu isn't original but will deliver plenty of satisfaction: prosciuttos, salami and culatelli di vaglia served with crescentine and fried gnocco. Then there's tortellini and tagliatelle with meat sauce, raw meat dishes and house stews. The "Via Emilia" tasting menu clocks in at 38. Competent and passionate service.
The best trattorias/bistrots are marked with 1,2,3 shrimps according to their quality grades.
