Katzlmacher were the Italian immigrants hailing from Trentino and Val Gardena were called because they carried around a wooden spoon, a derogatory term used to address Italian migrants. Opened in 1983, Osteria der Ktarzmacher is now managed by Giorgio Cherubini. Locals flock here for solid and reliable Italian cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, much more than any other Italian restaurant in Germany. The wine list is well stocked, with hundreds of labels of both mainstream and small boutique Italian wineries.
