Legend has it that the Greeks introduced the grape variety known as greco di Bianco to Calabria, as the name suggests, when the first settlers (likely from Chalcis) landed on the Ionian coast of Calabria around the 8th century BC. In Bianco, Mariolina Baccellieri, a winemaker by calling, has passionately produced not only the two ancestral wines of her town, Greco di Bianco and Mantonico passito, for 25 years but also wines that draw on other local indigenous varieties, all cultivated under certified organic practices. Tre Bicchieri for the Greco di Bianco '16: its aromatic profile is kaleidoscopic, broad and crystalline, spanning everything from citrus to ripe yellow fruit, aromatic herbs and white flowers. In the mouth it's fresh, broad, and velvety, driven by a still vibrant acidity, rich in sweet fruit, with great aromatic persistence, leaving the palate refreshed and satisfied. The Siccagno '22, made from dry-vinified Greco di Bianco grapes, proves unique and enjoyable.
