Cantina di Solopaca is one of Campania's largest and most renowned cooperatives, boasting 1100 hectares spread out across 16 towns in Sannio and owned by 600 growers. Technical management is entrusted to Vincenzo Mercurio, the brain behind the new Identitas line, the result of zoning the vast area cultivated. The winery's range, which features native varietals, spans various lines, from more approachable wines to more ambitious selections. From the Identitas line comes a 2022 Falanghina that we greatly appreciated. It's fairly varietal in its herbal notes, calling up hay and wet grass, opening then to warmer sensations of lemon pulp. In the mouth, it's very precise, with a prominent citrus sensation in the mid-palate extending with precision and flavor. The Sannio Aglianico Carrese '19 features ripe black fruits and sweet spices, all combined with nuances of medicinal herbs. A toasted note introduces a juicy palate with good tannic extraction.
