Beppe Di Maria's winery, based in a sixteenth-century farmhouse, is situated near the Torre Guaceto nature reserve, right in the heart of Salento. The vineyards, which unfold around the main property on calcareous tuffaceous soils, benefit from sea breezes that waft in from both the Ionian and Adriatic Seas. Mainly traditional grapes are cultivated, from negroamaro to ottavianello and primitivo, resulting in technically well-crafted wines that exhibit appealing typicity and aromatic precision. A good overall performance from Carvinea this year. The Frauma '19 is a compact, concentrated Negroamaro with hints of mature red fruits and sweet spices. The Ottavianello Rosato Ottorosa '22 proves refreshing, approachable, and highly enjoyable with its floral notes and red forest fruits. Also notable are the Frugifero '20, a juicy, sapid, and fruity Primitivo, and the Otto '20, made from ottavianello grapesa pervasive drink with its sensations of licorice and aromatic herbs.
