The Trasimeno cooperative plays a vital role in supporting local growers and Duca della Corgna is their flagship line. The producer focuses on harnessing regional resources, specifically gamay del Trasimeno, a grape slowly gaining recognition for its potential. The range comprises a suite of wines that together constitute a comprehensive enological map of the region. The lineup submitted this year put in a first-class performance. The flagship is the Poggio Petroso, a veritable cru produced for a few years now. The favorable 2020 vintage made for a buoyant wine, redolent of rose and small wild berries. The palate proves slender, with tannins fused to its texturea very fresh drink. We also appreciated the Divina Villa Etichetta Nera, another Gamay del Trasimeno Riserva. Among the whites, the two Grechetto presented (both 2022s) impressed. The Nuricante is more complex, the Ascanio simpler but still delicious. The other wines prove well crafted.
