The relationship between the Walch family and regional viticulture dates back centuries, but it was with the arrival of Elena in the 1980s that the producer quickly became a touchstone for wine lovers. Today, daughters Julia and Karoline are at the helm, managing an estate that extends for about 70 hectares, spanning elevations from 250 meters (at the valley floor) up to 1000 meters (where the varieties that require greater freshness are cultivated). With the 2018 vintage, the Pinot Nero Aton (a new addition) makes its presence felt. From vineyards in the Glen and Barleith areas, it exudes wild fruit and herbal aromas, but it's on the palate that the wine showcases its class. Taut and sleek, it captures with its sapidity and elegant flavor, concluding with a long, gratifying finish. The Gewürztraminer Kastelaz '21 is the usual white of intense, invigorating aromaticity, while the Chardonnay Castel Ringberg '20 combines richness and suppleness.
