Barbara is the fourth generation of the Mottura family to lead the winery. The estate vineyards, which are located in various Salento municipalities (Cellino San Marco, Campi Salentina, Salice Salentino and Squinzano), grow in calcareous and clayey soils covered by a layer of red earth and feature old bush-trained vines that go back some 60 years. The area's classic grapes are grown, making for a traditionally-styled range marked by good technical precision. The Primitivo di Manduria Stilio '21 captivates, showcasing good persistence and freshness. In the mouth it's sapid, finishing long, where notes of dark wild fruits and Mediterranean scrub shine. Other annata wines impressed with their immediacy and pleasurable drinking include the Negroamaro, which features trademark notes of ripe black fruits with vegetal undertones; the juicy and assertive Fiano, with its spicy whiffs and white plum; and the Rosato, made from negroamaro grapes, which echoes signature aromas of strawberry and rose.
