Following exemplary conservation-restoration works, since 2010 the Costanzo family's "palmento" (a traditional Sicilian wine press) has been the centerpiece of a winery that cultivates and vinifies grapes organically. 18 hectares of vineyards are scattered across the Santo Spirito, Randazzo, Feudi di Mezzo, Zottorinoto, and Bragaseggi districts in Passopisciaro, on the northern slope of the volcano (where some vineyards date back over 130 years), and in the Contrada Cavaliere district in Santa Maria Licodia, on the southwestern slope. The Etna Rosso Santo Spirito 19 earned a place in our finals by virtue of its clear bouquet of peach and pomegranate, enhanced by lovely hints of fresh aromatic herbs. On the palate, it's elegant, robust, with round tannins and lasting persistence. The Rosso Mofete 20 also landed in our finals, characterized by delightful citrus notes of blood orange and a strong mineral character, returning with fleshy and vigorous fruit. Aromatically, the Prefillossera 20 proves sophisticated and complex, with hints of juniper and resina silky, supremely delicate drink.
