The name Petra is inextricably bound up with its winery. Designed by Mario Botta, the edifice has become a veritable monument of wine architecture. However, none of this would have been possible without the Moretti family. Franciacorta natives, their foothold in Tuscany began with Vittorio, who selected a tract of land not far from the sea for his winery. Today, his daughter Francesca passionately and competently oversees production in both the cellar and the vineyards, which are home to both native and international grape varieties. The Petra '20, a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc, initially expresses mild aromas of aromatic herbs only to establish itself with hints of roasted green pepper, currant, and cherry. In the mouth, it's lively with a body guided by silky tannins and a delightful finish. The Quercegobbe '20, a monovaretal Merlot, features aromas of vanilla and cinnamon atop a fruity base, culminating in a fresh, long, lingering palate.
