This Val d'Orcia producer has adopted the hemmed almond, a mystical symbol, as its logo. Founded in 1997, the estate was inspired by by tech entrepreneur Pasquale Forte's desire to reconnect with his agricultural roots by acquiring a vast property where biodynamic farming is practiced. The winery, which is situated beside a lab, spans five floors, the majority of which are underground, and is designed to align with their production philosophy. The Guardiavigna '19, made entirely with cabernet franc, opens on an elegant aromatic profile, where green pepper is joined by notes of mint and delicate eucalyptus, all adorned by black fruits. The body is racy, with well-integrated, creamy tannins, a fresh, lively acidic note, and a juicy finish. The Petrucci Melo '18, 100% sangiovese, reveals tertiary notes of tobacco and leather, then blackberry jam. The palate is austere, smooth, topped off by a truly intriguing finish.
