Representing the third generation of their family to lead the winery, Walter and Daniele Casetta oversee vineyards in Montà, rooted in the classic sandy soils of the Tanaro's left bank. The grape varieties cultivated include arneis, barbera, bonarda, brachetto, and nebbiolo, with pinot noir and chardonnay added for an Alta Langa. These traditionally crafted wines are meticulously made to aptly express both the grapes and their origin. The Barbera d'Alba Lupestre '21 is among the best of the appellation, evoking notes of rain-soaked earth, incense, and red berries. The palate possesses great energy and volume, with still-present tannins and an energetic finish. Other well-crafted wines include the Roero Arneis Franco '22, which unveils aromas of green citrus and Mediterranean scrub, and a palate full of freshness, length, and energy, and the consistent, long Roero Pierin '19, which plays on notes of cherry and forest floor.
