The estate is very large, about a thousand hectares, but only 30 of those are under vine, all carefully chosen so as to identify the best plots. All this in a village of a few inhabitants, in an area where it's easy to detect the marine influence on the climate. The cellar was built in 2009 so that it could operate with the utmost care and have the necessary space for vinification by plot. Olive trees and the breeding of Chianina meat round out production. The Pian di Contessa '17, a monovarietal Merlot, was very well received. The nose expresses a vegetal bouquet wrought of myrtle, sage, bay leaves, and spicy notes of pepper and juniper, all on a background of black fruit. In the mouth it stands out for its balanced body, refreshing acid backbone and a creamy, docile structure. The Santabarbara '18 is an excellent Bordeaux blend (with added Syrah) that features cherry aromas and a focused palate. The Pietriccio '18 is also well made.
