Brothers Massimiliano and Matteo Brambilla, originally from Brianza as their surname suggests, established Vigne Olcru a decade ago, gradually building it up over the years. From the modern architecture of the winery to Leonardo Valenti's approach in the vineyard, the revival of ancient grape varieties to the study of pinot nero clones, and from ecologically sustainable choices to partnerships with several Italian universities, every element here embodies the marriage of scientific research and technology in service of terroir and the preservation of local biodiversity. The focus now is on expanding into international markets, with an eye toward Asia. Even as we pen these notes, the first harvest is underway following the winery's recent acquisition by Guido Berlucchi & C. According to the first tastings, there's a substantial focus on Metodo Classico Rosé from pinot nero. Meanwhile, the Rosé Victoria '19 impresses with its meaty fruit, richness, and depth. The Pas Dosé Verve '17 is equally noteworthy: airy, structured, multifaceted, and impeccably well crafted.
