VINEYARD | Situated in the heart of the Sannio region, on the hill to the east of the city of Benevento, Barbera is born in a patch of land, a small parcel within an area of 4.5 hectares also dedicated to Aglianico, the Vigna Murate di Sopra at about 300 m above sea level. Pure Camaiola that grows in clay-tufaceous soils with good organic content and south-west exposure.
PERSON | The winery is located at the foot of Monte Serrato on an area of about 60 hectares (13.5 of which are vineyards) and is run by Lucio Murena, grandson of founder Francesco Zecchina. With him, the winery has experienced a new rebirth with an agriculture that is very attentive to sustainability and environmental protection, which led it to obtain organic certification. They produce not only wine but also olive oil, legumes and wheat as an ode to biodiversity. In particular, an ancient variety, the famous yellow-grain Saragolla wheat, with which they have made a line of durum wheat pasta.
WINE | The Barbera is refined partly in steel tanks and partly in amphora for 8 months. An all-mouth wine, juicy and fruity with deep traits of undergrowth. Violet and wild strawberry with hints of blood orange. Playful on the palate, it is very vivid and assertive. Harmonious tannic texture.
