VINEYARD | A vineyard within the woods. The Verdicchio grapes for this Riserva come from a parcel called Selva di Sotto, it is the highest in Staffolo in the province of Ancona in the Marche region: 500 metres above sea level with a view of the entire Esino Valley. Planted in 1974 by the Pastori family, it is surrounded by woods and Mediterranean maquis and has its roots in a soil rich in clay and sandstone rock, with a steep slope. Immediately after pressing, the vinification takes place via hyper-oxidation, then rests for a year in cement and about 3 years in the bottle before being marketed. Produced only in the best vintages, it is a wine of great stability, designed to reveal all its complexity and longevity over time. The 2019 harvest grapes were harvested between October 12 and 13.
PERSON | Riccardo Baldi has given up the role of the child prodigy to now play the role of solid certainty. His wines are the result of a personal journey lived with great determination. Very young, he took over what was little more than a hobby for his family and made it his reason for living. Clear ideas, such as the transition to organic farming and renouncing selected yeasts, and many trials within the walls of a new and efficient cellar. Savoury backbone, clear taste profiles and dynamism are concepts that echo throughout the production.
WINE | The scents are fine and pure. Delicate, fresh and precise with hints of wisteria, lime and a clear caress of anise. The mouth is beautiful on the tactile level, creamy and crystal clear on the aromatic level, with savoury sensations that definitely lengthen and make it continuous, also giving light spicy profiles, white pepper and ginger. The progression is driven by a very high acidity but perfectly integrated into the body of the wine, for a very fresh finish, of harmony and brightness. So much class and enormous evolutionary potential.
