VINEYARD | Located in the Municipality of Rovito, an area of Calabria with luxuriant vegetation, the vineyards are surrounded by holm oaks, beech forests, prickly pears and olive trees as well as typical local essences. Tenuta del Travale is located in a high hilly area (520 m above sea level), on a buttress of the Sila mountains characterised by ferocious temperature variations between day and night. The small two-hectare vineyard extends over gentle terraces, embracing two sides, one with a south-west exposure and one south-east facing. To the east, the imposing Sila plateau, which reaches almost 2,000 metres, protects from the north winds, and to the west, just under 30 kilometres, is the Tyrrhenian Sea.
PERSONS | The soul of Tenuta del Travale is Raffaella Ciardullo, a teacher with a passion for wine, but everyone in the family helps her out: Nicola, her husband, with Carlotta and Matilde, their very young daughters. And it is precisely this beautiful communion of intent that gives the name to one of the wines that Raffaella produces in her small estate in Rovito in the Cosenza area, with great attention to sustainability, nerello mascalese and nerello cappo. Esmen Tetra in fact means "we are four," the individuals who tend to the vineyards, strictly manually due to the steepness of the terraces where they are planted. The second wine is a tribute to freedom, from the Greek Eleutheria.
WINE | It is inviting already starting from the colour, super bright and luminous, a not very concentrated ruby. The aromas are light and symphonic, starting with a beautiful floral background of violets and roses, relaunched by fresh notes of orange peel and medicinal herbs. The mouth is graceful, sweet, flowing thanks to beautiful berries and darker sensations of olives and rhubarb. The drinkability is very high, we advise you to taste it at 15 degrees Celsius to fully appreciate its admirable expressive lightness. The wine is articulated, airy, but at the same time incisive, with a slightly spicy finish.
