VINEYARD | Located in Irpinia, in the municipality of Montefusco, between the Sabato and Calore rivers, between 500 and 600 metres above sea level. The name Ariella is the toponym of the place, the grapes come from three north-west facing plots. From here come some of the more 'Nordic' wines of Campania, fine in aromas and with a remarkable vertical length, product of mountain climate and soils of extraordinary calcareous matrix. Here the Greco di Tufo expresses itself in its maximum beauty.
PERSONS | The Feudo Studi project was born in 2012. Antonio Capaldo, CEO of the Group, wanted an in-depth zoning work and mapping of the vineyards of Greco, Fiano and Taurasi. The consultancy was handled by Paolo De Cristofaro, one of the greatest connoisseurs of Campania wine. The publication of the almanack will be followed by 4 e-books, the maps will be created by Alessandro Masnaghetti. This is research never done in Irpinia, which will certainly be taken up by the Consortium and by the producers of the area. In all, 800 plots of the estate have been studied, 180 are those dedicated to greco grapes, increasingly protagonists also of the production of the Classic Method with the Dubl line. Each cru is produced in 1,500 bottles, 600 of which are intended for sale. The company library will soon be inaugurated, which already today collects about 80 crus, a unique opportunity to understand the diversity and potential of Irpinia wines in all of their nuances.
WINE | What a nose! The scents are fresh and very fine, ranging between aniseed and fresh almonds, with a peach undertone on an iodised gust. The mouth is like a glove, pure on an aromatic level, of extraordinary dynamism: the progression is vertical, creamy on tactile level, with a great leap of flavour. It is sapid, vibrant, harmonious: one of the best Greco di Tufo tasted in recent years. The wine is 8 years old and looks three, it will still be in exceptional shape in 10 years. A new confirmation: Campania is a great territory for whites of international standing.
