VINEYARD | The smallest DOCG in Italy is at home in Scanzorosciate, in the province of Bergamo. The Moscato di Scanzo vines grow on soils formed by sandstone and peliti, exposed to the South and South-West in a hilly area between 200 and 300 metres above sea level. The production is around 2 kg per plant, the final yield is very low. After manual harvesting, the grapes are left to dry for about a month at controlled temperature. Following, a maceration of about 15 days, and a maturation in steel and cement barrels and, finally, resting for at least 5 months in glass after bottling.
PERSON | We are sure that Sereno Magri is among the most valid ambassadors of this denomination with amazing numbers. Our tastings say it all, confirming the Moscato di Scanzo as always at the top of the typology. Sereno has been running the family business for about 30 years and today produces 12,000 bottles in total, alongside sweet wine we find still wines that fall within the Valcalepio Doc: chardonnay for the white, merlot and cabernet for the reds produced.
WINE | Those who love the nuances of the best Vermouths will be charmed by the aromas of this excellent Moscato di Scanzo. Deep colour, with violet reflections. Strong opening with bewitching aromas of officinal herbs, gentian and laurel, with a clear background of dried rose. The mouth is enchanting with measured sweetness, spicy notes that grow in a symphony, especially sichuan pepper and then juniper berries, with a return of currant. The encounter between fruity sweetness and bitter-sweet herbs gives life to a three-dimensional, dynamic, original wine. Let's drink!
